CENTER-TBI aims to advance the care for patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI), a field in medicine with one of the greatest unmet needs. It is a large-scale project (FP7 grant 602150) aiming to improve characterization of TBI in order to facilitate individualized treatments and identify the most effective clinical care, providing high quality evidence in support of treatment recommendations and guidelines.
The CENTER-TBI Core study collected high quality clinical and epidemiological data with repositories for neuro-imaging, DNA, and serum from over 4500 patients with TBI in 19 countries in Europe and Israel. Enrolment was in three strata, differentiated by care path: (1) patients discharged home from the emergency room (ER stratum); (2) patients admitted to hospital, but not to the intensive care unit (admission stratum); (3) patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU stratum). It includes long-term outcome up to 24 months after injury.

The CENTER-TBI team developed Frequency Tables for the CENTER-TBI data. These Frequency Tables do not lend themselves to analyses of the CENTER-TBI data, but serve to provide some orientating insight into the availability and distribution of data in the CENTER-TBI dataset. - Follow up assessments at 2wk, 3 months, 6 months, 12 months and 24 months depending on the type of patient and inclusion in extended studies

- Extended studies: Selected sites, meeting additional logistic requirements, will participate in extended data collection with regard to MR imaging; Extended coagulation and biomarker studies; Acquisition of high resolution ICU monitoring data.
